AirSense 2025 Summary

Below is a summary of key findings from the first year of data collected from five Aeroqual AQM-65 air monitors in Beaver County, Pennsylvania, from December 2, 2024 through November 17, 2025. The Environmental Health Project collected this data with the Beaver County Marcellus Awareness Community as part of the AirSense Community Monitoring Project, which is funded by Shell penalty dollars from the Environmental Mitigation Community Fund. These results reflect a 352 day monitoring period of air quality in Beaver County.

Key Findings for PM2.5, NO2, Ozone, and VOC Readings

• Consistently elevated levels of ozone pollution, with readings above the EPA standard in all four seasons
• Seasonally elevated levels of PM2.5 pollution, with readings exceeding EPA standards in the summer
• Modest levels of NO2 and VOC pollution
• Regional and local sources of PM2.5, NO2, and VOCs
• Regional sources of ozone precursors, pollutants that contribute to the formation of ozone, in eastern Ohio
• Some spikes of all pollutants that reached levels that could produce health effects in adults, children, the elderly, and other vulnerable groups
