Share Your Story in an Upcoming Museum Exhibit on Climate Change

Our communities in the Upper Ohio Valley are already living with the impacts of climate change. From extreme heat and flooding to landslides and severe storms, these experiences aren’t abstract or far-off. They’re part of daily life for many of us across Western Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio, and northern West Virginia.

That’s why we’re excited to share an opportunity for community members to have their voices featured in an upcoming museum exhibition at the Kamin Science Center.

The Kamin Science Center is developing a new exhibition focused on the regional impacts of climate change in Appalachia and the Upper Ohio Valley. As part of this work, the exhibit team is seeking firsthand stories from local residents — both rural and urban — about how climate change is showing up where they live.

They’re especially interested in lived experiences related to:

  • Extreme heat

  • Flooding

  • Landslides

  • Other severe or unusual weather events

Selected participants will be invited to record their stories, which will be featured as part of an audio component in the exhibition. This is a chance to ensure that the realities facing our region are represented accurately, compassionately, and in our own words.

BCMAC will also be recognized in the exhibit for helping connect community members to this project, and we’re proud to support an effort that centers local knowledge and lived experience.

If you live in Western Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio, or northern West Virginia (including the greater Pittsburgh region) and have been impacted by extreme weather or climate-related changes, we encourage you to participate. Your story matters. And it deserves to be seen and heard!

Take the survey below to share your experience and be considered for inclusion in the exhibition!
