We sent the letter below to Congressman Deluzio on Monday, September 15, 2025.
Re: Request for EPA Public Hearing on Proposed Injection Well in Beaver Falls, PA
Dear Congressman Deluzio,
I am writing on behalf of the Beaver County Marcellus Awareness Community (BCMAC) to respectfully request your support in urging the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to hold a public hearing regarding the proposed Columbia Gas injection well in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania.
This project raises significant concerns for our community’s health, safety and environment. Injection wells are linked to groundwater contamination, increased seismic activity, and long-term pollution risks. Beaver County residents already shoulder a disproportionate industrial burden from fracking, petrochemical development, and heavy infrastructure projects. It is vital that residents have a formal opportunity to voice their concerns and ask questions before any decisions are made.
As our Congressman, your leadership is crucial in ensuring transparency and accountability. We urge you to request that the EPA hold a public hearing in Beaver Falls by September 29, 2025, so that the directly affected community can participate meaningfully in this process.
Thank you for your continued commitment to protecting the health and well-being of the people of Western Pennsylvania. We would be glad to provide additional information or meet with your office to discuss this matter further.
Sincerely,
Hilary Starcher-O’Toole
Executive Director
Beaver County Marcellus Awareness Community (BCMAC)
